Trethevy Quoit
Cornwall
This impressive monument is Neolithic and would have once been covered by an earthen mound. One of the upright stones is pierced allowing access to the centre. It is also know as "Arthur's Quoit", despite having no historical connection to the King.
The actual size of this Quoit is impressive, and at the same time slightly bizarre, given it's setting. The Quoit is set in a field, with houses at back gardens just approx 20m away. In one corner of the cap stone is a clearly defined hole (of which there is a photo). The purpose of the hole or what has caused it is unknown.
