Perranporth

Cornwall

Standing on it's own on the cliff edge is a large stone Celtic Cross.  Further down the cliff below the stone Celtic Cross is a wooden one.  The wooden cross marks the site of the "Missing Chapel" which is where a church allegedly disappeared into the earth below.

Unfortunately, due to my other half badly spraining his ankle as we made our way to the crosses we never actually reached them, which was a shame.  But the views across the sea from the cliff tops were breathtaking, especially in the early evening sun.

So as a word of warning, be careful of potholes on the way to the crosses.

Directions

From the A30, follow the signs for Perranporth.  Once there go straight through the town centre and out again following the signs for Newquay.  Once past the Haven Holiday Camp Site there are parking places by the side of the road.  From here it is a good 10/15 minute walk across the sand dunes to reach the two crosses.
